(Photo : Rockstar Games/Take-Two Interactive/Steam) "Grand Theft Auto 5" has come to Apple and Android smartphones thanks to a new PC mod. With a few clicks of a mouse, it's possible to play "GTA" anywhere in the house. "Grand Theft Auto 5" is available now on PS4, PS3, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC.
"Grand Theft Auto 5" PC modders have found a way to steam Rockstar's critically acclaimed game to any Apple or Android smartphone. All it takes is one app and a little PC know-how to play "Grand Theft Auto" anywhere!
The news comes to Design & Trend via GTA5-Mods. Informational articles and download links are available at that source.
As crazy as it may sound, getting "Grand Theft Auto 5" to stream to a smartphone isn't all that strange. This is essentially because it works via the Remotr app that's specifically designed for the purpose of streaming PC games to a myriad of devices. The process more or less involves making a small mod to that existing program to make it recognize "GTA." Once everything is in place, all the features that it has to offer are fully available.
Because PC modding isn't officially condoned by "Grand Theft Auto 5's" developers at Rockstar Games, we can't go into too much detail on how to get the job done. That being said, it basically equates to finding the PC's IP address, installing Remotr for Windows and mobile and making a small file swap on the desktop to allow the game to work. More complete instructions can be found at the link above, but it shouldn't require any more than an intermediate level of technical prowess.
As the embedded demo video shows, once those steps are out of the way, the results are pretty spectacular. Players have the option of using a controller if the PC is nearby, but a full slate of touch controls can be layered on top of the action as well.
There are many benefits that a mod like this can offer, and they're essentially the same as any home game streaming feature. If, for example, a loved one needs to use the PC for a simple task, the player never has to leave their game. It can simply be streamed to mobile. As gross as it is, playing an intense match during bathroom breaks is also viable.
Unlike many "Grand Theft Auto 5" mods, this one should work in both offline and online modes because it doesn't involve altering any files within the game itself. Considering how huge "GTA Online" still is, that's a pretty sweet perk.
Remotr is currently available for Apple devices with iOS 8 or higher. On the Android side, version 4.1 is necessary. It's a free download with additional in-app purchases.
