PS4 news includes Fallout 4, Star Wars Battlefront and PlayStation VR
We now know what new challenges are going to be part of the revamped Fallout 4 Survival Mode, which is set to add a new list of perks and problems that should keep hardcore fans busy for a while.
Game director Todd Howard recently announced that Survival Mode was born through an internal meeting halfway through development for Fallout 4, other ideas settled upon at the time included the robotic themes of some of the upcoming DLC packs.
Automatron arrives later this month and should be given a release date very soon. It will include the chance to build your own robot and will be followed by Wasteland Workshop and Far Harbor content drops.
Fallout 4 Survival Mode will need a lengthy beta test on PC
Survival Mode is certainly one of the most intriguing ideas for a lot of Fallout 4 fans who might end up waiting for the bigger Far Harbor update to arrive later this year, but just how long will fans have to stay patient?
Speaking to Game informer, Howard revealed that like past updates, Survival Mode 2.0 would arrive on Steam first and even include its own beta testing period.
"Survival mode has a lot of changes that can be pretty dramatic," he explained.
"Once we get it honed where it’s working well enough, we’re going to put it on Steam beta for a while. ‘Here it is. Start playing it. Give us feedback.’
"It’s far easier to update and iterate on [PC]. Once we settle on it, then we’ll release it for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. We want to get it up soon on Steam beta.
Star Wars Battlefront fans can expect more heroes to join through future DLCs
And following its release in beta on PC, fans on console may have to wait a further month to play it on PS4 and Xbox One.

"It’s not going to be months and months off. If it’s not really working, and we need to iterate on it, it may stay in beta for a month, depending on what we are changing," Howard added.
"But we want to make it have the game feel different. The bits we’ve done, and me recently playing it, it’s absolutely some of the most fun I’ve had playing Fallout. I mean that honestly. It changes it in a good way for me, but it might not for everybody."
